Since everyone who wants to trek in Baliem Valley has to go through the Sentani region (where Jayapura airport is located), many people come to see the beautiful Sentani lake and it’s surrounding. This region is a dramatic “welcome” to Papua and gives numerous opportunities to short hikes and easy exploration of the region.

Arrival in Wamena meet me, here we arrange for the travel permit known as Surat Jalan, buy the return ticket at once and then continue the trip to Sogogmo. Upon arrival at Sogogmo public taxi terminal, then we start walk to Kurima distrik and registration in two military bases. A short briefing there for trekking. After lunch in in Kurima, walking up to Ugem village.

The tour begins with an early breakfast in the hotel in Wamena. Then transfer to the missionary airfield and flight to Kona. The flight takes 25 minutes. After arriving in Kona we stay one night in a missionary house or in a local hut. The next day the trek leads you to Lanca – an approximately 5 hours walk.
